The conference organizers for TechSec 2012 have just announcedtheir preliminary educational program. For 2012, the conference will focus on hot topics like mobile apps, video analytics, identity management, cloud services and PSIM. NICE’s Dr. Bob Banerjee will be moderating a session on “PSIM, PSIM-light, VMS: Solving problems outside of the acronym box.” He’ll be joined by Donna Jones, IT Manager, Manheim Atlanta and Ed Merkle, Director of Port Security & Emergency Operations, Virginia Port Authority, to answer the age-old question: how do you choose the right solution for your needs?
“Integrating physical security systems requires PSIM, with its own features and functions,” said Banerjee. “And then there is Situation Management, which brings in the business process concept. PSIM is not equivalent to Situation Management, although they’re related. Similarly a video management system (VMS) is not PSIM, even though VMS solutions offer some degree of integration, for example to access control.”
“While these different solutions share some of the same concepts, they solve very different problems,” Banerjee further explained. “In this panel discussion, we’ll explore what each can and cannot do based on real case studies, and dispel the myths.”
